Choosing the wrong burner configuration can lead to years of inefficiency. The two main types—Monoblock and Duoblock—each have their place.
1. Monoblock Burners (Package Burners)
-
Design: The fan, motor, valve train, and controls are all integrated into one housing.
-
Best For: Small to medium boilers (< 20 Tons/hr).
-
Pros: Compact footprint, lower initial cost, easy 'plug-and-play' installation.
-
Cons: Limited turn-down ratio (usually 1:4 or 1:6). Loud fan noise right next to the boiler.
2. Duoblock Burners (Split Type)
-
Design: The fan is mounted on the floor or a separate stand. Only the windbox and gun are on the boiler.
-
Best For: Large utility boilers (> 20 Tons/hr).
-
Pros:
-
High Turn-down: Can achieve 1:10, saving massive fuel on low loads.
-
Preheated Air: Can use hot air from an air preheater to boost efficiency by 5%.
-
Quiet: The noisy fan can be placed in a sound-proof room.
-
Recommendation: For standard factory use, a high-quality Monoblock from Baltur or Riello is sufficient. For power plants, go Duoblock.
